Abigail McNamee and Mia Lynn Mercurio

Dr. McNamee, Ph.D., Ed.D., is Chair of the Department of Early Childhood and Childhood Education at Lehman College , City University of New York.  She teaches child development and research methodology for teachers in the Graduate Early Childhood Program and is a child therapist in private practice.  Her research interests include children's conceptualization of various aspects of life: their own cultural group, their conceptualization of death and aliveness, divorce, and reading; as well as the development of integrated education in Northern Ireland (Catholic/Protestant schooling); and how children cope with stress and trauma. 

Dr. Mercurio , Ed.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Early Childhood and Childhood Education at Lehman College , City University of New York.  She teaches literacy for teachers in the Graduate and Undergraduate Childhood Program. Her research interests include children's conceptualization of various aspects of life: their conceptualization of death and aliveness, divorce, and reading; how children cope with stress and trauma as well as the design and implementation of interdisciplinary instruction.
