Lionel H. Brown, Judith Larsen, Ruth S. Britt, Yao Yao, Jean P. Brown, & Ryan Beck

Dr. Lionel H. Brown, author, holds Bachelors, Masters and Ed. D. Degrees from the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio. He is retired from Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) where he served as principal of Bloom Junior High School, and of Withrow Senior High School. Over a ten-year period, his responsibilities in the role of CPS Deputy Superintendent included the departments of Curriculum and Instruction, Office of Student Discipline, and Office of Student Affairs. Currently, Dr. Brown is an Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati.

Dr. Judith Larsen is the Evaluator at Cincinnati Museum Center. She has been an active member of numerous design teams for both permanent and traveling exhibitions, conducting front-end, formative, and summative evaluation. She also oversees evaluation of educational programming. Special interests include fostering community/museum collaborations and developing ways to track long-term impacts of museum programs. Ms. Larsen received her Ed.D. from the University of Cincinnati in Educational Administration and her M.A.T. in Biology from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.

Ruth S. Britt is a writer/editor and former exhibits graphic designer and evaluator. She was part of the design team that mounted the exhibit Civil Unrest in Cincinnati: Voices of Our Community in the days immediately following the2001 racial unrest in the city. Because of that experience, she and her husband founded the African American Theatre Company of Butler County, dedicated to bringing works of social importance to the stage.

Yao Yao holds a masters degree in Educational Administration from University of Cincinnati. She currently studies and works in the University of Cincinnati as a doctoral student and graduate assistant of the Urban Educational Leadership program.
Jean Price Brown, contributor to this article, holds a Bachelors Degree from the University of Cincinnati, and a Masters Degree, Reading Specialist Program, from Xavier University in Cincinnati. Her experience in Cincinnati Public Schools includes ten years teaching grade K -3, twelve years as an elementary school reading/ resource specialist, and six years as an elementary school supervisor.

Ryan Beck is an undergraduate history major at the University of Cincinnati. He has already obtained his bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing from the UC’s Honor-PLUS Program. He is also the captain of UC’s Undergraduate Mock Trial Team and will be attending the University of Dayton, College of Law, in the fall of 2006. He has been a research assistant with Dr. Lionel Brown since August of 2005.
