Terrance L. Furin Terrance
L. Furin is an Assistant Professor in the Education Department at Saint
Joseph's University in Philadelphia. Prior to this appointment, he served
for twenty-two years as a Superintendent in Ohio and Pennsylvania. During
this time he received many distinguished awards including the Fulbright
Memorial Award for study in Japan. He has authored numerous book chapters
as well as articles in publications such as The School Administrator;
Social Studies for the Young Learner; and Conversations on Jesuit Higher
Education. Terry is active in Jesuit outreach activities in South America
and his research interests include high-stakes testing and social studies
in elementary schools as well as the spiritual aspects of transformational
