Vinay
Harpalani Vinay Harpalani is a Ph.D. candidate in Interdisciplinary
Studies in Human Development, and a Master of Bioethics candidate,
at the University of Pennsylvania. His interests include racial
identity and stereotyping, and the social, political, and scientific
construction of racial discourse in America.
Raymond
Gunn is a third-year doctoral student at the University of Pennsylvania's
Graduate School of Education. As a Spencer Fellow, his research
interest lies in urban education. He is specifically interested
in the academic achievement of African American males and in the
culture of selective admission high schools. He comes from New York
City where he has extensive experience in teaching college writing
and English as a second language, as well as in administering adult
education programs and university writing centers. He can be reached
